We treat children at all ages and stages...from babies having a check up at a few days old to teenagers struggling to be in their ever changing bodies.
A wide variety of conditions can be treated in children/teenagers and by improving the integration and mobility of their structure it can have a marked effect on the function.
Our Gentle Approach we use very gentle techniques in which the osteopath’s highly trained sense of touch is
used to identify and correct mechanical disturbances and limitations, both in and around the joints for the skull, and throughout the body.
Our osteopaths work at the gentler end of the spectrum of osteopathic techniques especially when treating young children and babies.
Babies can be left with tension in their bodies from delivery. This can lead to discomfort or problems such as not being able to turn their heads to feed. We often see babies in the first 2 to 3 weeks for a check up.
We see children for a variety of reasons - everything from aches and pains from growth or bumps in the playground to anxiety related tension. Teenagers' bodies undergo a huge number of changes during adolescence. They may be pushing them on the sport's field resulting in muscle and tendon problems, growth related issues such as Osgood Schlatters or Schermann's Disease, tension headaches or hormonal migraines.
We feel it is important to have these ever changing bodies in the best balance that we can achieve for both physical and mental well-being. Which is why we recommend gentle osteopathic treatment whenever the body has been stressed. Whether that be by the physical trauma of a fall or accident, the rigors of being born or the tension that arises from the effects of stress.
It would be difficult to list everything we treat here so please contact us for more information.
